Maximal Mouth Pressure Meter
The Pocket-Spiro® MPM100 is a simple
and non invasive device for the measurement of Maximum Inspiratory and
Expiratory mouth pressure (MIP / MEP), the maximal peak pressure both
inspiratory (SNIP) and expiratory.
The device is of high precision, portable, reliable, robust, handy, compact and easy to use.
It is operated by a single button (
The
Maximal Expiratory Pressure at the mouth is measured at TLC (Total Lung
Capacity), lungs full. A forceful expiratory manoeuvre leading to a sustained
maximal effort, during which time the best second average is calculated, is
followed by natural release upon fatigue. The best result from 3 tests, with a
suitable 1 or 2 minute recovery period between efforts, is used as the value of
expiratory muscle strength.
The graphical display allows
you to validate the manoeuvre because of the pressure curve plotted in an
autoscaling chart (50,100,150 and 200 cmH20).
The MIP/MEP
and Peak Inspiratory/Expiratory pressure (PIP/PEP) are also calculated.
The
PDI (Patient Data Interface) is an optional software for displaying in real
time the pressure wave forms developed during testing with the MPM100.
